NHMRC - It’s time to consider an offer

29 April 2010, 4:07pm

The CPSU and NHMRC are close to reaching an in-principle agreement and are recommending the agreement be endorsed by CPSU members.

How do I find out more?

The CPSU is holding a meeting for members (details below) about the draft agreement. Then the agreement will be put to an electronic vote for members following the CPSU meeting.

What we have won?

• Management agreed to bring forward the scheduled three percent pay increase, and it will now take effect from the 8 July 2010, or the date of commencement of the agreement, whichever is the latter.

• Access to part time work arrangements will now be available to parents with children up to school age instead of to their second birthday.

• There is now recognition that any gender can be the primary caregiver and that any parent will now have access to 14 weeks paid leave.

• All staff will now be able to access the agreement’s dispute resolution process for all HR documents that underpin the agreement.

Why your union likes it

Overall, this is a more comprehensive agreement with many improvements and recognition of employee rights and consultation procedures. This agreement also brings many of the employment conditions that were previously in policy into a legally enforceable form.

What do I need to do?

• Find out more about the agreement by attending the CPSU bargaining update (details below).

• For a full copy of the in principle agreement, email ian.ryall@cpsu.org.au

• Join the union by filling in the membership form on the back of this bulletin or join online.

• Help NHMRC become a great place to work by getting involved in your union. Call Matt Sammels, your NHMRC Delegate, for more information.

CPSU MEETING - To consider the proposed NHMRC agreement

This meeting will be held in the Warren and Marshall / Doherty / Eccles rooms on Level 1, on Monday 3 May 2010 between 2-3 pm. All staff welcome.
