Following strong representation from CPSU delegates, DEEWR management have confirmed that there will be no involuntary redundancies as a result of the introduction of the Mobility Register process.
Support when you need it:
The CPSU will support members affected by changes at DEEWR - individually and through advocating for broader improvements. CPSU will also advocate on behalf of members so your concerns are properly addressed.
Members' concerns raised with DEEWR:
Members have raised concerns that DEEWR is implementing budget cuts in an inconsistent and hasty manner. Specific concerns include:
• voluntary redundancies process is being rushed
• flaws with the Employment Cluster Expression of Interest (EOI) process for available jobs
• insufficient information from management.
Strong protections in EOI job processes: As a result of CPSU raising these concerns, DEEWR has guaranteed that:
• displaced employees will NOT become ‘excess' (ie no involuntary redundancies)
• all further EOI processes for available jobs will involve more time and transparency
• staff will receive feedback on an unsuccessful EOI
• staff can request a ‘review of action' if they're unhappy with the EOI process.
The mobility register:
On 8 July 2010, management announced the introduction of a mobility register for ongoing staff who need a transfer at level. These staff will be considered first for all temporary and permanent positions that arise.
The announcement confirms that those on the mobility register will not be made excess and will continue to receive productive work.
Management have advised that employees on the mobility register will receive training and support.
CPSU delegates are also able to give support and advocacy to members around finding a position from the mobility list.
Use your opportunity to be consulted:
CPSU has also gained management's commitment to improve communication and consultation around the restructure.
CPSU delegates are meeting this week in each of the clusters to determine possible concerns and to take these up with management. Management have agreed that staff will be able to see and have input on organisational charts and positions before changes are made.
CPSU supports members:
Your union will continue to support staff and take up your issues with management. CPSU will actively enforce your rights to consultation contained within your agreement. If you keep us informed, we can take up your concerns.
