ACTPS: Agency negotiations underway at last

22 July 2010, 10:41am

After months of negotiations and drafting, the common terms and conditions for ACTPS agency agreements have now been finalised.

This clears the way for agency specific negotiations to commence soon. It is anticipated that this process should be completed for most agencies in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Your chance to vote coming soon
Once agency agreements are finalised, all agency employees will get to vote on their agency agreement. If supported by a majority of staff at the ballot box, the agreement will be sent to Fair Work Australia for registration.

So when will I get my pay rise?
Eligible employees will receive the $650.00 sign on bonus and the 2.5% salary increase (backdated to 1 July) upon the registration of their agency agreement with Fair Work Australia.

What's going on with recruitment freeze?
Since the ACT Government's imposition of a recruitment freeze in early March, your union has been seeking information about monitoring and reporting the impacts of the freeze. To date, the ACT Government have failed to provide any meaningful information. In fact, they can not even confirm that the freeze ended on 30 June as originally planned!

Union seek answers
The CPSU has now formally requested this information from the Chief Ministers Department and we will keep members informed. In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Agency funding cuts
The ACT Government's 2009/10 budget imposed an ‘Efficiency Dividend' to from 1 July this year. The CPSU believes this blunt, lazy and arbitrary mechanism will put downward pressure on jobs and your capacity to deliver essential services for Canberra Community.

Your union is working hard to see this poor public policy measure abolished. We are keen to hear from you about any cuts to programs or services in your work areas. Members with concerns should contact their local CPSU Industrial Organiser or Email members@cpsu.org.au

Are former employees of the ACTPS (who were still employed after the former CA ceased but have since moved on) likely receive backpay?
