Downgrade of Medicare branch jobs a slap in the face

13 September 2012, 3:52pm

Medicare branch staff have expressed anger that DHS has downgraded their work.

In an unprecedented decision, DHS has started employing staff in Medicare branches at APS 1 and 2 levels on temporary contracts to replace permanent APS 3 – 4 vacant positions.

CPSU members are raising serious concerns about how the decision will affect their future job security and access to career development. The CPSU has called on DHS management to commit to negotiating a comprehensive jobs plan for branch staff.

The CPSU believes all Medicare branch staff should be recognised for the important work they do and the essential services they provide to our communities.
