NTPS agreement - what is it going to take?

25 September 2007, 2:19pm

The Commissioner for Public Employment has made an offer for a new workplace agreement for NTPS staff.

The offer failed to address the concerns raised by NTPS staff in our recent survey.

The Government's offer

The current offer is 10% over three years. That's less than 3.5% per year. It's also less than the current rate of CPI for the Territory. While there are some smaller gains in flexible working arrangements, there is very little for Professional employees. There is also a reduction in casual loading, from 25% to 20%.

Initial feedback from members

  • The pay offer does not come anywhere near our claim of 6% per annum
  • The pay offer does not keep up with the rising costs of living in the Territory
  • It does not keep up with other public sector standards, currently averaging 4.2% per annum

What is it going to take?

  • Membership - If you are not already a member of the CPSU you need to join today
  • Active members - You need to get involved in the campaign

Your CPSU organisers will be visiting workplaces and holding meetings over the next few weeks - click here for details of meetings . We will also be emailing members with details.

It is important that members and those of you who have not yet joined attend the meetings. It will show the employer how serious we are in improving pay and conditions for public sector workers.
