Your union today received a comprehensive offer from management which picks up many aspects of our bargaining claim. The offer comes after eight meetings of your CPSU reps pushing our claim and is indicative of the growing level of support among IP staff.
There are several issues not agreed including changes to personal leave
arrangements, payment of flex credits on separation and overtime provisions.
Further, there are a number of issues that remain unaddressed. CPSU will be
seeking your feedback in the coming days on the proposed agreement and welcomes
your membership should you support our work and wish to improve our bargaining
position.
What matches our claim?
14 weeks paid maternity and adoption leave
Two weeks parental support leave
No additional hours
Guaranteed 15.4% super
Access to the AIRC to resolve disputes
Allowances to increase in line with pay.
What’s not agreed?
Medical certificate required after three consecutive days or after 10
days without evidence in previous 12 months
No payment for flex credits on separation
Overtime not payable until 7pm instead of after 7:21
Remote location work issues not resolved
Public holidays at half pay if on recreational leave at half pay
Personal leave accrual cut for new starters.
Other features
Performance based bonus payments for EL2s only
Flextime retained for EL1s but not EL2s
Unpaid community service leave.
What about pay?
4% in May 2008
4% in May 2009
Additional 1% in October 2009 conditional on two day reduction in
personal leave by June 2009
New pay structure including an initial adjustment for most pay points
and a new structure for patents and trade marks
No discretionary pay points.

Your union is currently considering the finer details of the offer and is
keen to hear what you think. We will be seeking staff feedback on the offer in
the coming days. Our next meeting with management is scheduled for Thursday 20
March. Your feedback will inform our response to management at this meeting.
