Centrelink National Management challenges PST employees to PROVE IT

8 April 2008, 10:31am

What is going on in PST ?

PST staff across Australia have been inundating your union with serious concerns about changes to their employment conditions and their workplaces. Members are saying Centrelink has not and are not consulting on PST changes.

PST employees send a clear message to Centrelink!

Over the last two weeks your union and PST employees have taken up the fight to find out what’s happening to your jobs with Centrelink’s new National Scheduling System and PST Operating Model.

PST union representatives decided to conduct a survey nation wide. There was a huge response with nearly half of all PST workers completing the survey nation wide reflecting how much concern there is about the restructure.

The results are very clear:

  1. 85% said that had not been provided with all the information on changes.

  2. 95% said they had not been provided with an opportunity to provide input or feedback.

  3. 94% said PST employees should have a say on how a new National Scheduling System and PST Operating Model would affect them.

  4. 94% said they will support the campaign to defend your right to consultation and to ensure the new PST model will not reduce your employment conditions.

Your PST Reps met with National Management on 31st March….

At meeting with National Management your PST union reps put forward that:

(1) Centrelink provide all information on the PST restructure and future any future plans.

(2) There are paid time meetings for all PST employees with the CPSU to consider the information and provide feedback.

(3) An ongoing staff consultation committee is set up for the duration of the PST restructure.

(4) There is an OH&S risk assessment on new PST operating model and duties changes.

It was extremely frustrating as Centrelink said ‘There are no National Changes that affect PST employees work or workplaces’  NOT TRUE!

Last Chance for Centrelink to agree on consultation

PST workers simply want what they are entitled to: information on what’s happening to their jobs and an opportunity to have a say on those changes.

Your representatives are preparing to seek assistance from the Industrial Relations Commission should National Management not agree to consultation.

What you need to do

We need you to tell us in detail how your job has changed (since July 2007) with the introduction of the PST National Restructure and Call Centre Scheduling System by going to: https://www.cpsusurveys.org.au/pststories.asp
