Your vote = UCA for FaHCSIA!

12 June 2008, 9:44am

83.45% of staff who participated in last week’s staff survey voted for a union collective agreement.

The CPSU would like to thank all members for ensuring you voted and encouraging your colleagues to participate also. You’ve made the right decision; all the data shows union collective agreements deliver better pay and conditions for all staff.

Also congratulations and welcome to all those who’ve joined the union in the past few weeks, you are making a difference.

What happens next?

The CPSU is committed to working with you to get the outcomes you want. By choosing a union agreement you’ve created an excellent opportunity to get genuine improvements in your pay, conditions, and rights – but we can’t do this without your involvement and participation.

The CPSU will be meeting with FaHCSIA staff over the next two weeks to discuss what you want to see in your next Collective Agreement. We will then release a survey to collect accurate data about your views. Once again it will be of great importance that a majority of staff participate. From here we will establish the FaHCSIA staff bargaining claim which will be released for member endorsement. Your choice

  • Means a genuine say over pay, conditions, and rights
  • Ensures genuine bargaining (not just consultation)
  • Delivers CPSU's bargaining experts working to get the best pay, conditions and rights for you
  • Creates an agreement your union can legally enforce.

How do we get the best outcome in bargaining?

If we are going to secure the pay, conditions and rights you want we need to be well organised and have strong union membership.

Experience shows us by working with and through your union we can ensure your views are heard and taken seriously by management. You need to:

  • Contribute to the upcoming CPSU bargaining survey
  • Stay involved with the process providing information to your union and your colleagues
  • Join your union
  • Become involved in your local Workplace Organising Committee
