Australia Council - working collectively

18 June 2008, 10:57am

The CPSU is pleased that following discussions last week the Australia Council has recognised the rights of delegates to desk drop CPSU material. This is an important way to keep you informed in the lead up to negotiations around the new collective agreement.

If you don't wish to receive information, please contact your local delegate.

Working together to resolve issues

By raising issues of concern and working collectively, issues can be resolved positively and quickly. It enables us to provide support and strength when it's needed together with advice and assistance. You can support your delegates by joining the union, getting involved and contributing your ideas.

The Australian Government Employment Bargaining Framework and what it means for you

Your CPSU representatives met with Australia Council to discuss the new Australian Government Employment Bargaining Framework (AGEBF). The government has said they encourage Government Business Enterprises to apply the workplace relations policy guidelines. The CPSU will be liaising with both parties to arrive at an outcome within the spirit of what the government has said.

Why is this important?

The AGEBF states…

  • Genuine consultation with union staff representatives
  • Employees determine the type of agreement
  • Commitment to genuine good faith bargaining on your pay, conditions and rights

Union support for members

During this uncertain time your union delegates were available to assist those staff directly affected by the recent staff changes in Australia Council. At the request of your fellow union members affected, delegates acted as a support person during difficult 'excess' meetings and were able to take notes and provide details of the meeting discussion.

When we have strength we have the support to work together to resolve your issues…
