Your issues at CSA

24 July 2008, 11:47am

With the ink barely dry on the new Union Collective Agreement, CPSU delegates around the country are already reporting problems for members in the workplace around the implementation of the new agreement.

Representatives from CPSU Section Council are meeting today with National CSA HR reps to try to resolve the following issues.

Transition

  • Individuals have been on the phones for up to 6 hours a day
  • Staff do not have enough time for follow up
  • CSA unable to meet the 4 weeks notice period for rosters or the 2 weeks notice of changes required under the agreement
  • Staff required to provide leave and lunch preferences 8 weeks in advance
  • Staff required to provide leave dates 6 months in advance in SA.

General

  • CSA retrospectively applying carers’ leave taken under the old agreement in order to put people on performance agreements for accessing personal leave under the new agreement
  • CSA requiring staff who access more than 2 days personal leave in a 2 month period to attend a rehab meeting
  • CSA refusing to pay restriction allowance in SA, VIC, TAS
  • WA policy for part-time staff is 6 months maximum contracts all starting and ending on the same day.
  • Sensible approach to transition of flex balances for staff with more than 10 hours in arrears
  • Consultation on changes to phone rostering -individual rosters vs team rosters. Use of :( symbols on rosters (in Transition) when someone is sick
  • Change of delegation to approve permanent part-time agreements
  • Bandwidth, staff told they can’t work at 7am without prior approval, thereby negating their right to flex time under the agency agreement.

CPSU delegates in some sites have already lodged stage one disputes with local management to try to resolve some of these issues. If we are unable to find a resolution today CPSU will enforce members’ entitlements under the dispute settling procedures, including escalation to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.
