CPSU members are being asked to now consider and vote on a 'revised' union claim for making a new ASA agreement. Voting will occur through a CPSU electronic ballot.
Why a revised claim?
Last week CPSU members met to consider a proposed claim. There was strong
feedback that we needed to;
increase the amount of our pay claim, and
be more specific about some of the claims about key working conditions.
Therefore a new revised claim has been developed.
What has changed in the claim?
Pay
The earlier draft claim was for 8% up front plus 5% from 22 November
2008, plus 5% for each of the two following years. But it is clear that
economic factors, the tight labour market, and greatly increased
productivity all justify a higher pay claim.
The revised pay claim maintains the 8% upfront adjustment to recognise
industry pressure and retention/recruitment issues and provides for further
pay increases of 7% pa as follows;
with the first payment to coincide with the 8% adjustment on 22 Nov
2008,
Second payment of 7% at 22 Nov 2009
Third payment of 7% at 22 Nov 2010.
NB - The agreement duration is yet to be determined, though normally is
no more than three (3) years.
