Negotiations are underway
Initial discussions have focused on establishing a negotiation timetable and process, and on the parties outlining their claims
Already ASA have revealed an agenda to tighten their control over employees including through changes to working hours arrangements.
At the next negotiations on 20 August further detailed discussions will occur in relation to issues including: hours, attendance management, TO/GSO structure and superannuation.

CPSU Claim
Airservices opening position
Pay Increase
8% upfront, plus 7%per annum from Nov 2008.
ASA proposed to address pay quantum as a final issue.
Hours of Work
No increase to hours of work, currently at 36.75hrs/wk
Increase to 38 hours per week. Also increase the span of hours from current 8am-6pm to 7am-7pm.
Overtime
No conditions trade-offs
More ASA control over when you work overtime. Less choice and control for you.
More employer control over working hours: Do you agree or disagree?
What you have now
The current Certified Agreement includes the expectation that you will work a reasonable amount of additional hours if necessary.
But you have the right to say no – if overtime would be unreasonable after consideration of any risk to your health and safety, your personal circumstances including family responsibilities, the needs of the workplace, the amount of notice given, and any other relevant matter.
What management want in a new agreement
Under the ASA proposal, employees would be OBLIGED to work a “reasonable amount” of additional hours as necessary to meet operational or business needs.
Instead of maintaining YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE, ASA propose to leave it to your manager to “endeavor to accommodate your preferences”.
