In principle agreement reached on DPS terms and conditions - Now you decide!
In our last Bulletin to all DPS staff the CPSU reported that the decision of a majority of CPSU members and the members of other Unions to vote in support of taking protected industrial action resulted in sufficient concessions on the part of DPS management at the bargaining table to avert the need to take industrial action. Just as importantly, it has allowed for further negotiations and final drafting to take place in respect to your next agreement.
Your vote will determine if the CPSU becomes a party to the proposed agreement. Voting will close at 400pm, Friday 5 September.
Key features are:
Pay increases of 5% from date of operation (mid/late October); 4.6% from July 2009 and 4.2% from July 2010.
Improved parental leave entitlements.
Increases in allowances.
Leave provisions expressed as entitlements.
Guaranteed employer super contribution of at least 15.4% regardless of choice of fund.
Compassionate leave
Formalisation of ongoing sessional part-time employment.
Review of Unscheduled Absences.
In relation to hours of work for Executive Level staff, the parties have agreed to supplement the existing provisions (time off in lieu but not necessarily on an hour for hour basis) with a specific entitlement for Executive Level 1 employees to record time off in lieu hours on an hour for hour basis for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours a week.
Affected members should also note that a new maximum pay point for EL 2’s has been introduced which can be accessed by those employees achieving a performance rating of ‘highly effective’.
After many months of negotiations the CPSU is now satisfied that we have negotiated a deal that retains and builds on good conditions and which delivers members pay increases that are more than competitive with other areas of Australian government employment. The CPSU requires membership endorsement for the CPSU to be in a position to ‘make’ this Agreement.
