Bargaining in FaHCSIA – where are we at?

8 September 2008, 4:35pm

Over the past two months the CPSU has worked with you to establish your bargaining claim and this has been given to your employer.

You told us your priorities are:

  • fixing pay inequity in FaHCSIA, including a catch up pay rise
  • improving work/life balance: increasing maternity and paternity leave and removing the carer’s leave cap
  • addressing long working hours: including reintroduction of flex or stronger TOIL entitlements for EL staff.

FaHCSIA has indicated it agrees that achieving competitive pay is a priority and will consider your claim of a catch up pay rise plus annual percentage pay increases.

  APS5 maximum
PRODUCTIVITY COMMISSION $67,600
DFAT $63,654
BOM $62,849
ABS $62,643
ATO $62,461
DEFENCE $62,135
CUSTOMS $61,057
PM&C $61,028
AVERAGE $60,935
FACSIA $58,947
CENTRELINK $58,501
LIBRARY $58,239
DEST $57,958
WAR MEMORIAL $57,069
AIATSIS $55,154

Next steps – Where does FaHCSIA sit in relation to the APS average?

To find out more about FaHCSIA pay rates at each APS level attend the meetings in your area this week. With negotiations on 2-3 September postponed by management your CPSU bargaining team will now meet with FaHCSIA again on 16-17 September.

The CPSU is committed to achieving pay parity across the APS as well as pursuing adequate funding and resourcing for the APS as a whole. To find out more see our documents “Agenda for Change” and “Far From Equal – Bargaining in the APS” at www.cpsu.org.au.

To support the campaign for pay parity and decent conditions in FaHCSIA and the CPSU campaign to achieve positive change for all public servants and the broader Australian community we need you to:

  • join today to help resource both your campaign and the CPSU Agenda for Change at https://web.cpsu.org.au/join/asp/join.asp
  • come to the meeting in your area – see over page for details
  • become involved in getting the best possible outcomes from your next CA. Email fahcsiamembers@cpsu.org.au  to register your interest.
