Are you properly enrolled to voted? Don't delay, act today!

19 July 2010, 9:43am

Did you know one in ten eligible voters, and an incredible 50% of 18 year olds, aren't enrolled to vote and even more are yet to update their details.

Polling day will be August 21 and that means you have until 8pm Monday 19 July 2010 for new enrolments and until Thursday 22 July to update details like your address.

Do you know anyone who turned 18 in the last year? Have any of your friends moved house, got married and changed their name, become an Australian citizen or moved overseas?

To make sure your details are up to date, visit http://www.aec.gov.au/Enrolling_to_vote/Update_enrolment.htm

Then, make sure all your friends, family and colleagues do the same before 8pm tonight.

If you are not enrolled by 8pm Monday night, you won't be able to vote in this year's historic election and you could be fined for not being on the electoral roll.

It may take two minutes of your time - but it will have an impact every day for the next three years.
