AUSTRAC: it's time to decide - CPSU recommends you vote NO

15 December 2011, 9:30am

Next Monday, you will be asked to make a critical decision about a new agreement. This decision shouldn’t be taken lightly as it determines your pay and conditions for the next two and a half years so make sure you are well informed and have your say by participating in the “all staff” agreement ballot.

What does your CPSU bargaining team think?

The CPSU can not recommend the offer in its current form for three key reasons.

  1. Over half the APS have now signed off on agreements that don’t see cuts to conditions for substandard pay rises
  2. Members have not been adequately compensated for the delay (AUSTRAC have now saved $270,000 because of the delay)
  3. You deserve better – whilst some enhancements have been achieved due to the hard work of members in AUSTRAC, the proposed reductions far outweigh the benefits.

Lets look closer at what you stand to lose

  • EL day entitlement has been removed with a “discretionary” compensation
  • No guaranteed minimum superannuation rate
  • Reduced redundancy provisions
  • A reduction to flex time accrual
  • Policy and guidelines will not be referenced in EA and there fore not disputable
  • Consultation – the employers determines what they will consult staff over

And much more – for further details of the above and more cuts click here

And what do you get in return

  • 3.55%, 3%,2% pay rise
  • One pay point advancement upon satisfactory performance
  • Christmas closedown (can not be accessed this year due to delays)
  • 16 weeks paid maternity leave

Is it possible to achieve more?

We believe so. In every agency where we have won a successful NO vote we have seen improvements to a new offer. Its is not our view that members should have to forfeit hard won conditions to fund a pay rise. If other in the APS can achieve a better deal, why can’t you?

CPSU recommends you VOTE NO – if the agreement is rejected by a majority of employees, we will move swiftly to meet with your employer and reach a new agreement.

Join CPSU

It’s never too late to join CPSU – get involved and be part of something that matters. The more members in AUSTRAC, the better chance we all have of reaching a fair deal.
