CPSU governance and financial accountability processes
25 May 2012, 3:30pm
Following recent media reports about alleged serious financial mismanagement by individuals in the Health Services Union, a number of members have asked for information about the way CPSU governance and financial accountability matters are handled.
The CPSU has many rigorous processes in place to ensure our members funds are used ethically and effectively. We are deeply committed to financial transparency and integrity in the interests of our members.
As an open and democratic organisation we are happy to provide information about our financial expenditure and accountability processes and have prepared a special document for members here.
The CPSU strongly supports the ACTU's view that there is no place for corruption, misuse of members funds or maladministration of union affairs in the Australian union movement. The alleged behaviour by some HSU officials is very serious and absolutely unacceptable. It should be noted, however, that the overwhelming majority of Australian union officials, staff and delegates are deeply committed to representing their members ethically and effectively.
