Workplace wrap - March 2008

18 March 2008, 10:48am

All the latest news fresh from the CPSU bargaining table.

Current CPSU bargaining

CSA: After almost a year of tough negotiations and strong campaigning, a draft CSA agreement has been finalised and will be recommended to members. The first pay rise will be paid from 1 March and there will also be a one-off $200 bonus to compensate for delays. Alongside the previously agreed $300 training bonus, this means staff will receive $500 when the agreement is lodged. More on this at http://www.cpsu.org.au/agency/news/6298.html

IP Australia: CPSU has received a comprehensive offer from IP Australia which picks up many aspects of our bargaining claim. The offer comes after eight meetings of pushing our claim and is indicative of the growing level of support among IP staff. Read on at http://www.cpsu.org.au/agency/news/6300.html

NTPS: Following the count of votes at the NT Electoral Commission, employees have voted in favour of the new union collective agreement - 3573 in favour, 537 against. The three year deal delivers NTPS workers an 11% pay increase, with no loss of conditions. The effective date of the first 4% instalment is 9 August 2007, with two additional instalments of 4% and 3% payable in August 2008 and August 2009 respectively. More on this story at http://www.cpsu.org.au/issues/news/6297.html

NGA: Negotiations for a new agreement at the Gallery have begun. Staff representatives will be given reasonable time and adequate space to consult and meet during working hours. More at http://www.cpsu.org.au/agency/news/6314.html

NMA: Negotiations have also begun at the National Museum and members of the negotiation team are currently being identified and selected. Read on at http://www.cpsu.org.au/agency/news/6215.html

AUSTRAC: The CPSU bargaining team has served its claim to management, based on feedback provided in a staff survey and the CPSU core claim aimed at improving industry standards in the public sector. Read more at http://www.cpsu.org.au/agency/news/6274.html

ABS interviewers: The survey results are in and the claim has been finalised. Highlights of the survey include that more than 87% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that CPSU pursue a Union Collective Agreement, and over 95% agreed or strongly agreed to a 15.4% superannuation contribution being paid to all Interviewers.
