The Fair Work Act

The Fair Work Act is the new set of national industrial relations laws which have replaced WorkChoices on July 1 2009.

This set of fairer IR laws was signed into law on April 7, 2009.

The Fair Work Act gives workers

  • stronger rights to negotiate their wages and conditions
  • a right to bargain collectively
  • a right to be represented by their union in disputes and consultation

Fair Work Act factsheets are available here
