Centrelink - Respecting your right to representation
No matter how busy your office is or how long you’ve worked there; you are allowed to have someone assist you and support you on any workplace matter.
This includes rescheduling a meeting if you’d like representation. Your
rights to be represented by your union are protected by your Centrelink
Agreement (check out clause 10) and the Fair Work Act.
Who can be represented?
probationers
non-ongoing staff
temporary employees
full-time employees
part-time employees
Any employee!
You choose your representative
Whether the meeting is
during the performance assessment process
a coaching session
an informal chat with your team leader
a Code of Conduct interview or action
a disagreement about accessing your conditions or entitlements
consultation on matters that affect you or your workplace, or
any other formal or informal meeting.
You choose your representative, and it could be
a delegate in your workplace
any union member
your union organiser
another person of your choice, or
a CPSU industrial officer (call 1300 137 636 for help).
Rescheduling to get representation is OK
no matter how busy your office is, you are always entitled to your
right
to be represented
you can postpone a meeting or discussion until the person of your
choice
can attend, and
remember, you cannot be denied your right to representation.
