This has included TPP premises where masks are not being worn or not being worn correctly.

If this happens to you, exercise your right to cease unsafe work by doing the following two things:

  1. Remove yourself from the premises immediately
  2. Notify your supervisor that you have ceased unsafe work and advise them of the reasons

DAWE management is supportive of this course of action and has clearly advised staff in this way. Andrew Patterson wrote in his ‘NSW COVID-19 Update - 4/8/21’ email:

"Should anyone identify unsafe practices across the sites you attend, you are supported to cease work if it is unsafe and are to contact your supervisor immediately for advice. Appropriate follow up will then occur with the site in question to ensure that unsafe practices are addressed."

In the event that you receive any contrary direction from your line manager/supervisor you should immediately contact your Work Health and Safety representative, CPSU organiser or the Member Service Centre on 1300 137 636.

CPSU is working hard to help keep members safe during COVID. If you have a work colleague that’s not in the CPSU get them to join today.
