The CPSU is concerned about the seriousness of the issues raised by members relating to Work Health and Safety (WHS) when working with aggressive, vulnerable, and at-risk customers. In particular;
- Work and escalation processes
The CPSU strongly believes and advocates for all workers to have access to a safe and healthy workplace and has sought the assistance of the regulator Comcare. Until this WHS issue is resolved, your CPSU representatives will continue to work with Telstra and CPSU members to ensure you’re safe when working with these customers.
What to do if you feel unsafe?
Telstra has a legal obligation to take WHS risks seriously and do everything they can to remove or mitigate them. Workers have a number of WHS rights that you can read about in the attached CPSU WHS fact sheet.
If you feel that the work you are doing is a health and safety risk, notify your team leader immediately and contact your local representative or CPSU Members Service Centre for advice and support by phoning 1300 137 636 between 8am -8pm, Mon - Fri.
