Gilmore CPSU members' meet and greet

You’re invited to a CPSU member meet and greet with Labor candidate for Gilmore (your Federal Electorate), Fiona Phillips

Fiona is a CPSU member and former public servant and understands the difficulties that public servants face, particularly the pressure that APS staff in regional areas have felt from job cuts by the Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison government.

The Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison government that stacks the decks against working people has also used all the levers of government to push further in the public sector. We know the devastating effect a conservative government has had on our jobs and the services we deliver. Years of staffing caps, budget cuts, outsourcing, labour hire and privatisation are taking their toll. Much of this relied not on the broken workplace rules, but government regulation, direction and policy.

The Labor Party, on the other hand have committed to changing the public service, signing up to a raft of our changes to rebuild secure jobs, workers rights and quality services, to be a good employer and a good government. They have committed to scrapping the Average Staffing Level cap and reducing labour hire and contractors. They have also committed to fair and equitable bargaining with the APS and opposing the privatisation of government services. Labor has promised 50 new Department of Human Services jobs in the South Coast region including in Nowra, Ulladulla and Batemans Bay. These jobs will be ongoing, permanent jobs and will be a huge welcome for DHS staff and the community. But for these commitments to become a reality we need a Labor Government and to get a Labor Government we need Fiona Phillips to win!

Come meet Fiona and hear about her campaign for more public service jobs in Gilmore!
