Uniforms are part of a Safe System of Work and risk control mechanisms
This is widely recognised and a well-researched area of occupational safety. Uniforms do psychologically influence and curb people’s behavior as a visual expression of authority and status.
Before changing WHS Risk Controls - WHS Law requires
- A WHS risk assessment be conducted to ensure changes do not compromise worker safety (this has not happened); and
- Workers and HSRs are included in every stage of Risk Assessment process – including decisions. (this has not happened)
