Secret Boston Consulting Group recommendations put thousands of Australia Post jobs at risk.
CPSU has been calling on the Morrison Government for months, demanding they release the secret Boston Consulting Group review into Australia Post.
We feared that the report would recommend the privatisation of part or all of the business. These concerns are also contained in our submission to the Senate inquiry which can be accessed here.
Yesterday in an explosive Senate Inquiry hearing former Post CEO Christine Holgate confirmed that the report recommended the privatisation of parcel delivery. Should such a recommendation be enacted it would result in the loss of thousands of jobs. The Morrison government has many questions to answer! The CPSU media release can be accessed here.
Included in yesterday’s revelations was an assertion by Australia Post management that they have had regular consultation with unions about the implementation of the Alternative Delivery Model (ADM). CPSU representatives have not had any recent discussions with Post management on this issue and have written to the acting CEO requesting a meeting. We have also requested a meeting to discuss the Boston Consulting Group report and recommendations.
Clearly the proposal to privatise parcel delivery is terrible public policy and a slap in the face to hard working, committed, Australia Post workers. CPSU members and representatives will continue to pursue this matter with Australia Post and the government and demand assurances that this recommended privatisation not go ahead.
