CPSU members have overwhelmingly endorsed the current National Secretary Nadine Flood in the recent union election.
Ms Flood received 81.5 per cent of the vote, the highest ever in CPSU elections.
Other members of the CPSU Executive – Assistant National Secretary
Louise Persse, National President Michael Tull, Deputy National
President Lisa Newman, Deputy National President Alistair Waters, Deputy
Secretary Rupert Evans and Deputy Secretary Kristin van Barneveld were
returned unopposed.
“I’m delighted to have been re-elected with such a strong endorsement by our members.
“It’s a credit to our entire leadership team who have worked so hard to deliver for our members in a tough environment.
“Together we have secured better pay and conditions for tens of
thousands of members and built an incredible group of new, energised
workplace delegates who have lead our highest membership growth in 10
years.
“We’re thrilled to get such a resounding vote of confidence for our strategies,” she said.
A handful of other union positions were up for election. New Section
Secretaries will take office in Customs (Susan Jones) and DAFF/AQIS
(Marian Payne).
FaHCSIA Section Secretary Jo Kerr will return for another term, as will
Statistics Section Secretary Paul Tulett, Employment and Employment
Regulation Section Secretary Stephen Mastwyk and Human Services
Governing Councillor for NSW Leighanne Hunt.
Current Tax Section President Loren Rotunno has now been elected as Tax
Section Secretary, and Helen Tuck, outgoing Section Secretary David
Guthrey and Erik Rasmussen were re-elected to the Governing Council.
“We’ve made some significant changes in the CPSU and we have a bigger
plan ahead. We’re focussed on building a modern, creative and growing
union that can take on the big challenges facing our members.
“I’m looking forward to getting on with the job,” Ms Flood said.
The CPSU covers workers in Federal Government and the Australian Public
Service, the ACT and NT Public Services, the CSIRO and other science
institutions, aviation, ABC, SBS, commercial broadcasting, Medibank
Private, Telstra, telecommunications and Australia Post.
