AWM employees - CPSU recommends staff vote YES

9 June 2010, 3:27pm

Voting has begun for all staff on the new agreement. In the earlier CPSU member vote, accepting the agreement was unanimous. Now CPSU is recommending you vote “YES” in the all staff vote. Voting closes 15 June.

Major improvements in your agreement

  • Improved representation rights underpinned by each union having a representative in the WRC
  • 3% pay increase
  • Enhanced delegates rights in the enterprise agreement
  • Flexibility for staff who choose to participate in discretionary work outside core hours. TOIL paid at time and half, no disadvantage to staff who can’t participate, and the guarantee that no employee will suffer any disadvantage if they don’t participate.

For more details please refer to the last bulletin

What happens now?

After the all-staff vote finishes, if a majority have voted “yes” the agreement will be lodged with Fair Work Australia (FWA). FWA will test that employees will be ‘better off overall’ under the agreement than under the relevant award and issue a decision approving the agreement. When that happens, it will be seven days until your new agreement comes into effect.

Better way to bargain

Most enterprise agreements end on 30 June 2011, following a Government decision to reform the way the APS bargains. This reform is set out in the Moran review which is the Government’s reform agenda for the public service. It has been accepted in full by the Government and one of its main recommendations is the streamlining of pay and conditions. To find out more go here.
