No consideration of Centrelink staff in JCN hours

13 July 2010, 10:12am

Members in JCN are reporting Centrelink have notified a change in hours to take effect from Monday 19 July 2010. These changes are made without your consultation or consideration.

Please let us know what you think of these changes and how they are affecting you in your work and home life.

What are the changes?

  • Start times will be shifted 5 minutes later to 7.55am.
  • The first five minutes is considered start up time and will be taken out of your L&D time.
  • Finish times will be pushed back by 10 minutes to 5.30pm.

JCN employees work in a scheduled environment taking calls from the clients. They spend most of their day on the phone.

The Centrelink Agreement recognises essential conditions needed for employees in Call and the CPSU considers these conditions should apply to other teams like JCN.

Conditions protected in Call but not in JCN

  • Start up time of 10 minutes is built into schedules to allow employees to boot up computers and access relevant Centrelink systems (it takes at least this long!)
  • L&D time must be in blocks of at least 30 minutes.
  • Employees are able to discuss their scheduling preferences with their team leader before schedules are prepared.

Email your feedback (either individual or from your workplace) to CPSU.Centrelink@cpsu.org.au

Have these changes affected you in your workplace? How have these changes affected you? Does JCN have faster computers than the rest of Centrelink? Any thing else we should consider?

We will raise your issues with the National Manager of JCN, Cathy Duncan on behalf of union members.

Your union will support and assist you in enforcing your rights Your involvement and your membership matters

  • Please, share this bulletin and ask one of your workmates to join your union.
  • Join your union by calling 1300 137 636 or join online here
  • Send your feedback in to CPSU.Centrelink@cpsu.org.au
