ATO Library closures

22 August 2008, 10:42am

CPSU Members at Dandenong have raised concerns about ATO’s decision to close the staff library, without consideration of how it might affect you. The decision has been made to retain Box Hill, Casseldon Place and Moonee Ponds libraries.

Issues raised so far include:

  • The lack of staff consultation and the opportunity to respond
  • Technical resources/materials lost in “eLibrary” translation
  • Delays in delivery of requested books and its impact on completing cases and providing advice
  • Loss of assistance, with an onsite Librarian when conducting research
  • Large increase in travel to undertake necessary research

How do you feel about the library closures?

  • Will career opportunities in Dandenong be diminished as higher level technical jobs move to sites where the libraries are?
  • Will the opportunity for professional development be significantly reduced?
  • Do you think management closing your library will affect your ability to research and complete work?

We need to find out how this will affect you and your ability to perform your job. To find out more, you are invited to a lunch time meeting. Bring your lunch along and have your say.

Meeting details

Date: Monday 25 August
Time: 12.30pm till 1.30pm
Location: Room 8.1 and 8.2 on the 8th floor, Dandenong ATO.

All ATO workers welcome…

It pays to belong
