Graduates: Give your career a head start with the CPSU

2 March 2010, 1:47pm

Being a Graduate is a great opportunity. You are part of a fine tradition of leaders who started their careers in the Public Service.

The CPSU is a large professional community of people who work in the Public Sector. We understand that it can be difficult being a Graduate - moving to a new town, starting a new life and leaving your friends, family and support networks.

CPSU provides support, advice and assistance for our members working across the country. More than anything, CPSU members have access to important information that can give you a head start in your career.

CPSU Graduates Network invites you to the Insta-friends mixer! Click here for more info

Information

Being a member of the CPSU gives you access to all the information you need to know about your workplace - the terms and conditions of your employment, your rights at work and what is happening in the APS. Check out our Issues page here or browse for information about your agency here.

Networking and individual support

Joining the CPSU as a Graduate helps you get connected with other Graduates, colleagues and like-minded people across all Agencies via union events, workplace meetings and online. And, if you need individual support and guidance, you can always call our trained industrial organisers at the Member Service Centre on 1300 137 636

Community

Joining the CPSU gives you the chance to get involved and have a say in what the Public Service should look like and what kind of community we live in. All our submissions and reports are developed with member input and our Agenda for Change campaign is already having a real impact on policies that affect Public Service workplaces.

Benefits and Services

Being a member of the CPSU saves you real money through our member benefits programs, including discounted travel, cars, wine, white goods, electrical appliances, magazine subscriptions, insurance and much more. Find out about all the great savings you'll be entitled to here.

2009/2008 Graduate feedback

Patrick, Centrelink - The CPSU is about what’s fair for all employees - it helps establish a strong and effective public sector.
Anne, Treasury - Being in the CPSU is about working with others who care about their workplace, their workmates and the broader public service, and importantly what society we live in generally.
Osmond, Department of Health and Ageing - I’m a CPSU member because I believe we are stronger together, and we can collectively improve the Australian Public Service.
Stephanie, Department of Finance - The CPSU helped us achieve better conditions in our collective agreement negotiations last year. I like knowing that the union is there to support me at work, if I ever need it.
