Thanks to a well-supported and highly effective union campaign, all Australian workers have the ‘right to disconnect’ from Monday August 26th.
So, what does the right to disconnect mean?
It means you can now reject unreasonable contact from your employer, outside of your regular work hours. From next week, if an employer is contacting you directly, or expecting you to check messages or emails outside of your regular working hours, they will need to have a very good reason for it.
