Negotiations have already started, and this week the CPSU was able to negotiate an alternative deal with the ABC.
This afternoon, the ABC agreed that if the unions commit to not taking protected industrial action for 6 months, they will:
- Pay a 3% increase from 1 October, with scope to continue negotiating the remainder of the first-year pay rise, and
- Commit not to put any agreement to a vote without union agreement.
This is a BIG shift. It halves the original 12-month restriction on protected industrial action and includes a new commitment from the ABC to restrict its own rights around putting an agreement to a vote.
This progress is thanks to the incredible work of your delegates and the strong feedback from members who turned out to meetings this week.
There has never been a better time to be part of the CPSU. We’ve pushed for a better deal, and now what happens next is up to our members.
CPSU members will vote on what happens next. Every step of the way, bargaining is in your hands.
