The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) has welcomed the announcement that Clare Holland House (CHH) will transition to Canberra Health Services next month, after an agreement was reached between the ACT Government and Calvary Health Care.

The ACT Government has assured the union and employees at Clare Holland House that the transition from private to public arrangements will be seamless. Employees can expect that their job, pay, conditions, team and manager will all remain the same.

The union will work closely with the ACT Government to ensure this is the case.

Quotes attributable to Brenton Higgins, CPSU ACT Regional Secretary (acting):

“The announcement that Clare Holland House will transition across to Canberra Health Services from next month is news that our members in Clare Holland House will be relieved to hear.

“When services are outsourced, workers are forced to do more with less. The insourcing of Clare Holland House means that CPSU members will be able to continue delivering world class services, without having to pinch pennies.

“This is a great outcome for workers, and patients and their families.

“Canberrans can be proud to knowing that the absolute best end of life care is being provided by well trained, caring and dedicated public servants.

“The CPSU will continue to work with the Minister to ensure stability and certainty for both workers and patients as the transition takes place.
