All CPSU members in the APS are invited to have your say on the pay and conditions package on offer in service-wide bargaining.

Your CPSU APS wide bargaining team, backed by a strong and united campaign from CPSU members, has worked hard over the past five months to prosecute our member endorsed bargaining claim.

We have a range of materials on the detail of the package , including a recording from our recent webinars.

Members decide

Throughout bargaining, it has been CPSU members who have determined our union’s position – on our bargaining claim, on our response to the government’s initial pay offer, on conditions proposals, and on our priorities.

Now it is time for members to have your say and democratically decide whether or not our union accepts the pay and conditions package on offer.

What next?

Our member-only poll will run until midday on Wednesday 27 September and we will report back to you on the outcome shortly after the poll closes.

We have a plan for either outcome.

If a majority of members vote to accept the package:

  • We will continue our work to finalise agency-specific (Part B) bargaining.
  • This APS-wide package would be incorporated into all APS enterprise agreements, along with any additional matters negotiated at the agency level.
  • The final agency enterprise agreement would be voted on by all employees in your agency.

If a majority of members vote to reject the package:

  • We will need to move quickly to take industrial action – this means escalating industrial action where it is already authorised in Services Australia and members in other agencies initiating protected action ballots, voting for and taking industrial action.
  • We do not know what the APSC and government response would be, but undertaking this course of action could mean there are delays to finalising enterprise agreements, which may impact the timing of pay outcomes.

Membership matters

As always, our union’s position is determined democratically by our members.

Only members will have a say on the APS wide bargaining outcomes.

If you are not yet a union member and want to have a say, you need to join the CPSU.
