Work related violence, harassment, threatening and or aggressive behaviours are ever present hazards for many APS workers. All pose a serious risk to workers’ physical and mental health. Employers must implement safe systems of work and effective risk control measures to prevent serious illness or injury to workers.

In some situations, workers may also experience violence and aggression when they are not at work due to risks that arise from the workplace. Your employer has obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) to implement effective control measures to address such risks that effect you both at work and outside of work. However, there may be additional protections you may want to consider to ensure your safety outside the workplace.
