Job insecurity is an identified hazard in the Commonwealth Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work Code of Practice. Insecure work includes forms of employment that do not provide a worker with certainty over the extent or length of their employment.

This might include casual work or work performed under a fixed-term or non-ongoing contract, including these forms of work undertaken by labour hire workers. Each of these employment types can manifest in various forms, each contributing uniquely to workers vulnerability and workplace risks.
