Workplace violence and aggression can pose a serious risk to workers physical and psychological safety. Violence and aggression includes any incident or interaction where a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances at, or arising from, their work. Violence and aggression has the potential to impact those who are directly affected, as well as those who may witness the incident.

This type of workplace hazard is most common amongst workers who work in customer service roles providing essential services to vulnerable members of the community. It is unfortunately experienced broadly across the Australian Public Service.
