Anna Senkovic is a nutritionist at the Canberra Hospital where she has worked for 15 years and first joined the CPSU to protect workers’ right and conditions.

Some years ago, Anna was confronted with a workplace issue and was faced with losing her job. With the support of her union, CPSU, Anna was able to get the issue resolved and stay in employment at the hospital.

Today, as a workplace delegate and Section Councillor of the CPSU, Anna assists others in the workplace when problems arise for them.

“Many people have approached me with work issues or problems with conditions and to be able to give them advice and to support them is great,” explains Anna.

“I also have great support from the Member Service Centre when I need advice and I work with a great support system, thanks to the local ACT Government team in the CPSU,” she said.

Anna encourages colleagues to consider joining the CPSU or their relevant union.

Anna, a long-term resident of the ACT, loves the city.

“Canberra is a beautiful place to live. The people are lovely, the cleanliness, the greenery, and great shopping!” said Anna.

At the hospital Anna works on a range of different projects around improving nutrition. For instance she is involved in auditing patients’ food trays to identify the clinical risk should a patient get the wrong diet.

Anna advises that the best way to stay well in winter is to have a healthy, balanced diet and exercise.

“Being winter, it’s a great time for healthy soups, which are good for you and keep you warm,” she said.

Anna’s top tip to this winter is if you are sick - stay at home!
